Travelled with a friend to Prague for just under a week over New years '07. Stayed in Miss Sophies Hostel which was one of the best I've ever stayed at. Hostel was full of young Aussies and American's and there were plenty of people to meet and go out with every day. There are a number of tourist attractions around Prague, but we found the best thing to do was pay to go on a tour with a guide who take syou around the whole city and gives you a bit of history and stories as you go.Nightlife wa…

The beauty of Prague
posted by:

I woke up to a sore foot.  I showered, and wondered how I was going to walk around today - my foot was very swollen.  I had thought about wearing flip flops, as that was the only thing I could really wear, but I squeezed into my other pair of sandals and walked around in those. This day is actually a little hazy, I could blame the pain but I just don't remember.  My guide book had described a neat, ancient library somewhere on the outskirts of Prague, so I went to check it out…

First day of our trip, first place we visited. Ofcourse we need to send postcards! We browsed through a lot of lovely postcards, and finally made our choice. We bought stamps as well, the only thing we needed to do was write the address on it, and put them in a mailbox. Piece of cake. Ok, we wrote the names and adresses on it, then got hungry and went for some dinner. When we got back in the pension we realized we did not post the cards. Well, no big deal, we will do that tomorrow on the …

Praag dag 1
posted by:
Oct 16, 2005 - Oct 19, 2005

Stumbling into Prague - wheres the trains?
posted by:
Sep 04, 2008 - Oct 02, 2008
Tonight is to be our first train ride on this trip.  I'm looking forward to it but am also a little afraid too.  How can we find the right train, the right car?  I've had a little difficulty finding the right track and car even in England where I don't have a language barrier and can read the signs.  I haven't got a prayer of reading Czech signs and am going to need people to help us get to the right seats.  It's at 9:30 at night too. Another hot day and we hav…

Praha

Cheatted as well. I was on my trip to Wien/Vienna, but the bus driver had to rest for 4 hours (because of his work time bla, bla, bla - you know - they have their own rights how long can they work in a row). So we planed the stop in Praha/Prag. It was in the evening or better say night - from 22 till 2 in the almost morning. We wanted to stop somewhere in the center but we couldn't find parking place for buses (lucky we, that we didn't get lost, since we haven't got no city map or something (…

Praha - wat een geweldige stad!
posted by:

Zo mogelijk…

Overview I have visited Prague on business 4 or 5 times, spending a total of about 3 months there, the first time in 2000 and most recently in July 2006. It's a great city and anyone who gets the chance should visit it. It's a very civilised place, is a cross between a medieval and a communist city and is booming with its increasing integration with Western Europe which means that prices are rising but it remains one of the cheaper places to eat and drink in Europe. In summer it's swel…

Beer at Plzen, Czech Republic!

Finally, it's April 2007 and I got to see the 3rd largest brewery in the world!!!  The Pilsner Urquell Beer World in Plzen, Czech Republic.  It's about an hour outside of the center of Prague (we were so excited i think we lost concept of time).  Pilsner Urquell is run and owned by SAB Miller ( a company coalition between South African Brewery and Miller).  We had an honor of having a specially guided tour along with my Philly team, some of the English team, and the w…

Prague is Awesome
posted by:

My new favorite city in Europe, Prague was worth the trouble it was to replace my the plane ticket for the flight I'd missed in Rome.  On the way into the city, I met a local girl in the airport who offered to show me the way into town.  How nice is that?  We ended up meeting up the next day, and she showed around me the city, which makes Prague have the nicest locals in my opinion.

I rose from my slumber and headed upstairs to the breakfast room a selection of meat and cheese was available on different plates and guests could take one plate and two rolls. Perhaps being still a little drunk I mistook the donuts on the bar for bread rolls and set to consuming my breakfast having not eaten for 24 hours. Breakfast went down well and it was not until half way through that I realized my mistake seeing bread rolls next to the cutlery. However nobody said anything and I was tha…
