After 4 nights in Prague, it is finally time to say goodbye to the magical, green fairy city that seems to be housing all the British stag and Hen parties. After meeting only 1 person from the UK before coming to Prague, it is now apparent where they have all been. Here! The Aparcay Hostel which we have been staying in has been fantastic. Our room has its own kitchen and common area which has been great to meeting people. For the first time on our trip…

me and my colleague went in 2005 and 2006 with a youthgroup to prague. the main reason we stayed there was for visting the concentrationcamp "theresienstadt" (about an hour drive from prague). but it's hard to find people for the concentrationcamp only. so we decided to make this citytrip and find out what the jewish lifestyle in prague was/is, too.
the group's members were between the age of 16 to 31 (there were some places left and we sold them even to older people who wantedt t…

Niels, Oliver and I stuck together as we were all heading to Prague from Dresden and we were having a good time hanging out.I'm always up for a bit of adventure and I tested the water on the train as we neared the Czech border. The conductor/Immigration bloke came through to our car and asked to see our passports. The boys handed over their German ones and got a stamp and a smile. I handed over my New Zealand passport and the bloke flicked through the pages looking a little …

Our last day was full of travel. We took CSA from Prague to Frankfurt. Caught our connection and made our way back to the States. After this trip I decided not to travel with more then one other person for a while. It was just too tough keeping everyone happy. But all in all it was a good trip and I saw many things I hadn't expirienced yet. I've made another trip to Prague and plan others in the future. I really like that place!

Perhaps the greatest thing about living in the Netherlands is its centrality within Europe. In just a few, short hours, you can take a train to Paris, hop a plane to Barcelona or even bus it over to Germany. I had vowed to save my travel funds for the spring when I'm required to travel for two months as part of my course, but when one of the various travel companies I subscribe to e-mailed me about promotional deals from Amsterdam to Praha (or Prague as us Americans call it), I couldn't pass …

Our first stop (except stops on petrol station) was Konopiště castle near city Benešov. The Konopiste castle was founded as a gothic fortress after french castles in the end of the 13th century probably by Tobias of Benesov. The first touch to a medieval structure of the castle was made in the 15th century by Jiri (George) of Sternberk and than in the 17th century by Hodejovsky family. To a baroque residence it was made in 18th century by Vrtbas. The archduke Fra…

Prague is a beautiful city, especially in the winter. I went to Prague in February of 2005 and fell in love with the city. The eclectic architecture gives the city an historical but contemporary feel. Old Town Square is an open area where the Astronomical Clock (very anticlimactic-I was expecting something more, but a must see) is located. My friends and I ate at a restaurant on the square and even in February, at outside under heaters. Under the light snow, we enjoyed some good food and beer…

If you are ever in Prague, definitely make a trip to see the bone church in Kutna Hora. Its less than an hour away by train. The town has other sites as well, but nothing is as eerie and cool at the same time as a room full of bones stacked by a half blind monk hundreds of years ago.

Narrow st, cobble stones everywhere, beautiful facade, it has the special feeling of old medieval town in Europe. Great architecture, gothic and baroque style, stunning cathedral with beautiful fresco and stain glass. And the beautiful prague castle, with the light reflecting from the river at night time, and the famous charles bridge, along with 20 statues of various Saints etc. Of course, the food and famous czech beer : pilsner and starapramen, and they are good and so cheap. Every…
