Cutler Trail Reviews
Enchanted Hike May 31, 2008
On the coast of Maine, about 8 hours north of Boston, is one of my favorite hikes. The Cutler Trail is a 10 mile loop trail that crawls along the rocky coast of Maine, and cuts back in to a pine forest. It is everything Maine should be....with tall white pines right up against the crashing Atlantic.
You can do a day trip and use the cut-off trail to loop back early, or you can do the whole 10 miles and spend the night at one of 4 low impact camp sites...you wouldn't even know they are camp sites other than the small signs at them. It's great sleeping with the sounds of a fog horn, sea life, and the waves. Plus the sky reveals stars you don't get to see in the city.
Great hike for the fall and best of all, you won't see many people because the tourists don't usually go that far up in Maine, let alone get out of their cars for a hike.
