Day 1
Woke up at 4.15am having packed the night before. We decided to rent backpacks as ours weren't suitable for trekking and didn't want to ruin them! They were both quite heavy as we had to carry sleeping bags and water for the trek.
We were picked up from the hostel at 5.20am bot…

Cusco, which is 11,151 feet above the level of the sea, has allot of diversity, with a European feel. Have lunch on the balcony of one the many resturants overlooking the Main Square and people watch...see the colorful clothing, the school children in their uniforms, the old man on the park bench. Then explore the many Museuems and Grand Churches.

Peruvian food has become the new French, Chinese or Italian. A tasty trip to Lima has a very simple recipe: don’t drink the water, lunch at Donofrios, lucuma ice cream anytime, buy hippy trinkets in Barranco, stay at the Ariosto, shop for arts and crafts at the mercaditos in Miraflores, dinner at Rosa Nautica, and an almost historic tour by private cab to the Centro de Lima. If you learn to say pisco sour you will have a great time. Music lovers, find La Peña Don Porfirio.

4:30 came around ridiculously early and it was a good thing I had packed my things the night before because I was almost incoherent. On top of that it was beastly cold and I had to wait an extra half hour because the taxi that the agency sent got lost (in spite of precise directions). W…

Guinnea pig, or "cuy", is part of the traditional Andean diet, so on day 2 in Cusco, we decided we needed a peice.
We went to a place recommended by the Lonely Planet, with a pretty outdoor patio and the sound of roosters crowing nearby. The tree of us ordered three Guinnea Pig Specials…

Despite the last few days being the most expensive of our trip so far, it's hard to put a price on seeing Machu Picchu, especially when we got the only sunny day amidst the first rain we've seen for a month. We ended up getting the train from Poroy (as the station in Cusco was blockaded - sound fam…

Well here I am back in Cusco to organise my jungle trip, I´ve spent a lot of time on buses in the last few days but it wasn´t as bad as I thought. After Arequipa I went to Ica and onto Huacachina, I thought it was a strange place. Nothing there but the oasis surrounded by restaurants and hostels,…
