What a awsome place to go and do tons of stuff. The City of Cusco is known as archeological capital of America at 3399 mts. There is so much to do in this city and act as a base camp for getting acclimitized before embarking on a hike to Inca Trail. You will be offered Coca Tea at most hotels which helps to adjust with high altitude sickness.
Machu Picchu is an impressive Inca citadel placed on the side of Mountain and also known as lost city of Inca. Its now rated as 7th wonder of the World.
