A ROCK STAR DIED HERE Apr 03, 2017
Overlooked by the towering Park Lane Hilton Hotel, Curzon Square (formerly ' Curzon Place') is a quiet and picturesque nook in Mayfair. It can be approached either from Curzon Street or, more entertainingly, up a narrow staircase from Pitt's Head Mews.

One side of the square is occupied by post-WW2 buildings and the other, the eastern, by a late 19th century reconstruction of an 18th century terrace house. Behind this building there is a lovely private sunken garden.

The square has a number of lovely carved stone benches on which you can pass the time of day.

Sadly, the square is associated with the death of a rock star. Keith Moon of "The Who" died in a flat in number 9 Curzon Place in 1978 after a night out with Beatle Paul McCartney.
