To quote Vikram; ´the hostel was pants´. No, second thoughts - it was a skid mark on pants that get left behind in sports centre changing rooms.

The owner: Some weirdo who is under the impression that she is fully conversant in at least 6 languages. Unfortunately, noe are spoken in earth´s atmosphere.
She´ll happily rip you off at any opportunity, I say happily because she laughs loudly at you.

The door staff: You walk through the door for the first time and are greeted by his ´get out´ expression.

The review: For the 3rd time since the Venezuela border we suspect that the Lonely Planet people didn´t actually visit here...´it´s a bit crowded but its clean´ they say - it´s very crowded...a double and a single bed in a space big enough for a shower cubicle; and it wasn´t especially clean either.
They´re also under the impression that there´s a kitchen and washer/dryer for guest use. AKA there´s a kettle which you can use under supervision and the laundry facilities are the most hideously over-priced piece of evil in all of the Americas. Arriving direct from Santarem (2 days on a boat followed by 2 days on a bus [no seriously]) we handed over all our undies and tshirts at midnight...'how much' we ask....'ha ha ha ha ha ha ha' was the reply.
36 hours later (yes really) we got our damp laundry (it was 35 degrees outside) back for the princely sum of 30 Reais (15 dollars) and she wanted 40 Reais.
The area: Monotonous concrete.

I'm ranting again. Sorry.
