Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary Reviews

Feb 25, 2008
If you are in Australia and happen to be anywhere near the Currumbin Sanctuary on the Gold Coast, I think you should consider dropping in. Unfortunately, I have no idea what the costs were as I was touring with a prepaid group, but the wildlife was pretty amazing. The best part for me was being able to go up to the 40+ kangaroos and rub their chests. Nothing like petting an overgrown marsupial and wondering, "Do these animals really box?" Of course there were plenty of other animals indigenous to AU, but the roos definitely take the cake in my book. If you happen to be traveling with kiddos, the staff is very friendly and geared toward your aspiring young zoologists.

kangaroos can be quite violent. but they were most likely the smaller grey kangaroos and not the more dangerous 'Big Red's'. they can be over 6foot....
