The taxi from San Juan Puerto Rico to our port was $165 for round trip. The 90 minute small ship ride to Culebra was $2 per person. Culebra and Vieques are two different Puerto Rico posessions that were run and bombed terribly by the US armed forces till about 25 years ago. The long ship ride was very pleasant. We made port in Culebra and waited for the shuttle ($2 fee) to the nice beach. With every shuttle we were shoved aside by the locals and finally made the last shuttle that didnt fill up.

There were two old tanks near the beach; one a "dry tank" and the other a "wet tank".

The beach was sandy with clear warm somewhat green water. There was very little surf, so perfect for wadeing and swimming. We swam for a few nice hours.

They had one make shift rest room with one pit toilet. They scattered around sea grape leaves but they were very brittle. Its good that they had a salt water spicket that helped us clean up.

There was a line waiting for the small ship to take us back with the locals agressive pushing and shoving. We somehow got pushed to the back of the line but the ship had room for all of us. The ship ride back was uneventful and we finally made port in Puerto Rico. We were happy to see the smileing face of our taxi driver Angel.
