Crystal Orange Hotel Hangzhou Reviews
Funky boutique hotel Oct 23, 2011
The Orange hotel is a modern city hotel on the south-east shore of the West Lake in Hangzhou. It's just across the street from the lake and the park beside it and about twenty minutes' walk to the commercial center with shopping malls and restaurants.
It's a boutique style hotel with a nice contemporary design and focuss on the " orange" theme. At the reception there are complimentary oranges, mandarins and orange sweets.
The staff at reception speaks rather good English so check-in went smoothly. As we wanted a room with twin beds, my friend and I needed to upgrade to a better class room. If not we would have had a room without windows. Our other friends had a standard double with king size bed.(they got an equally nice room just smaller)
We got a nice corner room on the third floor. Though it was not too large, it had all we needed: twin beds, a desk and sitting area, kettle with cups, hairdryer, slippers etc...
I really love this hotel's funky design and eye for detail. There's a rubick's cube puzzle on the desk. Solving three sides earns you a free cup of coffee. And there's our very own pet fish Judy (and instructions how to keep her healthy)
Our bathroom had a window giving out to the bedroom, but luckily it could be blinded. Though really tiny, the bathroom had a large walk-in shower with rain showerhead and a really nice and extensive collection of vanity articles. I have to say I was impressed how clean it was all. This is by far the cleanest room I staid at in China!
Another nice plus is that the hotel features free wifi in the rooms and public areas.
Breakfast is not included in the room rate (we paid about 480 RMB per night for the superior room) but costs an extra 60RMB per person. For that amount you get a good continental breakfast served to the table at the coffee shop. There's a choice between coffee, tea, milk or juice, a selection of toasted breads and jam and eggs cooked to your liking, a yoghurt and fresh fruit. You can also have sweet or salted congee if you wish. I swapped mine for an extra coffee.
All the public areas, hallways, lobby etc... Have been decorated with eye for detail. The concept is really picture perfect and service is excellent.
This is without doubt the best hotel I staid at during this China trip and I'd highly recommend it to everyone travelling to Hangzhou.
