Great view over Petra hills Feb 08, 2011
The Crowne Plaza Petra is one of the closest hotels to the entrance to Petra. I spent two nights here (one paid night, one award night). I have Platinum status with Intercontinental hotels and they upgraded me to a room with a great view out over the sandstone hills that surround Wadi Musa (Petra village). The hotel did feel a bit dated, and the rooms were smallish for the amount you pay.. the bed took up most of the space. The restaurant served buffet breakfast and had a good selection of pastries, fruit, etc. The hotel gift shop will sell tickets for Petra at Night. The hotel is popular with tour groups so can get pretty busy.

Hotel near the Petra tourist center Apr 18, 2010
Nice hotel good ambience. I wasn't being too fussy about luxury. As long as there are clean comfortable beds, hot showers and reasonable timely service to the rooms, it's OK.
Location is excellent - not too long a walk from the Petra tourist center. One thing though - if you have a trolley/wheelchair/baby stroller, its a nuisance going up and down, as rooms are built on steps, and it's not always obvious where the next slope is - you have to struggle and find it. The reception was at the top of a hill, and the rest of the rooms were on a downward slope. Very bright and sunny in the daytime. Night time can be very charming or dark/creepy depending on how you look at it. I loved it. Only went to the restaurant for breakfast. And it was good - plenty of fruits, cereals, juices. But we weren't there to enjoy hotel food, it was the ambience and the outside view of petra, and the inner courtyard with olive trees and bougainvilla that made it really beautiful. There is a bar, coffee shop and a souvenir shop near the reception. Sat in the lobby sipping coffee and chatted with a few european tourists on a bible tour, and some younger folks from Indonesia and Philippines. I would definitely stay there again.

El hotel es lindo, esta muy bien ubicado, pero el servicio es un desastre, como todo en Jordania, no se puede pretender mucho de la gente como trabaja.
