Crowne Plaza Norfolk Downtown Reviews
A night at the Crowne Plaza Sep 06, 2011
The hotel was clean and well staffed. The check in staff were nice enough. The room was a bit dated but had a wonderful view of the City of Norfolk. The pool was great and the restaurant was OUTSTANDING. We were there kind of late but the food came out hot and tasty. The bartender was the also working as the waitress but she did a good job. We were also asked by the night manager how our dinner was.
I liked the bed but they are not the same level as I have had at places like the Sheraton or Marriott. There was no coffee to be had like those places put out for customers either. Overall I thought the price we paid was not on par with what I have come to expect at that level.
The hotel has a good parking lot that feels secure and we had no trouble finding a spot. We did not see any places for dining that were close to the hotel if you wanted to walk. A car is essential.

What is written is not always what you get...... Aug 23, 2008
Its not that the hotel was bad, just not how was written or what we
expected from past experiences based on writings like that. When we
got there, they still did not have reservation, but we had confirmation
number. Then we drove around to room where you enter an outside door, where there are rooms, then another door to another hallway to our room.
It was basic, which was okay.I think it was an old builder they tried to
bring back to life, cheapley. It sorta smelled, the entire building, but
was livable. Alot of light came through, so we just stacked our packing
against door.Sometimes the toilet ran, but not alot. They had plenty of
towels, etc.The shower wasn't too bad, just think everything was old
and not up to a modern replacement. The hotel staff was very nice. We
didn't know it, but the internet excess is automatic, through the hotel
ceiling, somehow. The lobby could do with updates too.The game room was
closed, no one used the business center, but lights were kept off and
door closed, so they might not have known it was there. They also had
another hotel(actually condos)that ran out of there hotel. The outside
was very inviting, so they actually do have alot going for them, we
probably would stay with them again.
