Good Reputation, Poor Service Jul 08, 2014
Due to circumstance, my family & I had to stay in a hotel for approx. 1 week while my recently purchased home was being finished up to move into...

I felt tricked, swindled, a little taken advantage of when I had in my mind that the "Crown Plaza" 2 blocks away, would be a good choice...why not stay there, the food & drinks at the restaurant is great; convenient location on the beach; has a good reputation for an up-scale place.

I was certainly tricked, because although those things written above are positive and true, in this time of need (to stay in a hotel, not due to vacation) , I had just experienced the worst of hotel service when it came to asking for requests from housekeeping or requests with assistance from the front for luggage.. Specifically, I stayed here from July 1-July 8th, 2014, and

Request #1 was: can the housekeeper (maid) please vacuum & clean tile floor, I've seen her come in & out in 15 minutes with a cleaning cup and a Mr.Clean magic eraser, and that's it! Oh c'mon! The $ I'm paying to stay here, I don't think it's a problem to ask additional cleaning attention to my room, especially since I have a toddler with me picking up every single morsel she

They did accommodate, and the next day, the "nice, smiling" housekeeper, became quiet, and cold as if we were being treated differently because of my request...

Request # 2: Can I please borrow a luggage cart?

Answer from bell-boy: Yeah, but you need to return it ma'am...

I need to return it?! No offer to help with our luggage, or the cart, and told I need to return it?!

I was blown away, I have my 72 yo mother-in-law, my 1 yo toddler, and I am obviously 9-months pregnant now waiting to deliver a baby, and you ( bellboy) is going to tell me, as long as I return it?!

Service has plummeted my opinion of this hotel and I would not end up staying here again.

The office manager was kind enough, to hear me out the day I was leaving, and deducted a small amount from the bill due to 'customer satisfaction' but I would just pre-warn anyone who stays here, you are paying for the name of the hotel and location; not the accommodations or service...

crowne plaza melbourne Apr 02, 2012
we stayed here one night at the crowne plaza Melbourne oceanfront. i think they were a little overwhelmed because of the convention going on there that weekend. after we checked in and when we finally found our room as you will see by the pictures .they had a balcony area with table and chairs which was really nice in the mourning to sit outside and enjoy a nice cup of coffee and listen to the waves.the hotel as most on the beach were build years ago.the highlight was the wonderful deck outside / oceanfront where we enjoyed a beautiful lunch as we soaked up some rays even with all the winds .very windy weekend.the rooms had everything you need microwave-refrigerator and the beds were nice and the bathrooms clean and the cleaning lady was really nice .sorry i forgot to talk pictures of the deck.

Not worth the extra money Jul 22, 2011
There are so many quaint little motels along the beach that are much more inexpensive, clean and relaxing that it's a huge waste to spend so much and get so little. I found the Crowne to be way over priced and they are only over priced because they are ocean side. So are all the other small motels along the beach but they are so much better.

P.S. This is the hotel in MELBOURNE, FLORIDA, not Australia.

Do not book this Hotel!! Sep 24, 2009
-The Hotel reception staff was extremely rude and degrading to my family during our entire stay. My father in law was called a liar when he attemped to report people in the pool at 1am. (The pool closes at 10pm)

-My husband and I were staying in the South tower. Noise seems to travel there. Everytime anyone made noise, the complaint was instantly placed onto my brother in law's room. He got married over the weekend at this hotel. It was a destination wedding and we had booked 50 people into the hotel. They showed their appreciation by calling the police on the new bride and groom to have them evicted on their wedding night. But only after the wedding was paid. Most of the guests had to leave on early flights and went to bed promptly, including the bride and groom. It was unnecessary actions taken by the hotel. After much negotiation with the police they were able to stay. It is difficult to have 70+ people leaving from a wedding and not create some noise. If they expected all of the guests to be completely silent maybe they should not be planning weddings that end at 11pm. Most of the noise was coming from the Turtle Nest Bar, not the guests of the wedding. So I guess if you are spending money at the hotel bar you can make as much noise as you like. My family and I are disappointed that the hotel ruined this special night for our family.

-The rooms were much smaller that I had anticipated from the photos. When you enter the room you are greeted with a long narrow hallway that makes it difficult to bring luggage into the room.

-The bathrooms were tiny. The sink space was not even 2 feet long. There was no place to put toiletries.

-We did however enjoy some of the other staff members at the Crown. Joyce in the banquet dept. was wonderful and accommodating.

Rich, the bellhop, was the most gracious man I have ever had the joy of meeting.

Eric, a waiter on the deck, truly enjoys his job. There was never a moment when he did not have a smile on his face. Even running into him in the lobby, he would give you his famous smile and make sure you were enjoying your stay.

Rob, the bartender, was awesome. Always there to give you a refill, or suggest a drink to try. Prompt and friendly service.

Jason, private bartender for Rehearsal dinner and wedding, was wonderful. Down to earth, talkative and friendly. I was glad to meet him during rehearsal dinner and then happy to see he was bartending for the wedding.

-Without the people mentioned above our stay would have been unbearable.
