Cheap, clean, big rooms, and free shuttle to downtown. Oct 01, 2009
Purchased through Priceline.com, this hotel was a great bargain for $40 per night.
The front desk people were consistently not friendly throughout my stay here, but were adequate. I stayed in a room with a king bed. The room was large and well maintained, clean and conveniently near an elevator. My room had a pullout coach and a comfy armchair to relax in. Hot, hot water was always available and the tub drained well (which is rare from what I have found in most hotels lately). Clean. The bed was comfortable as was climate control. The hotel rates 3 1/2 stars so no minibar in the room. Each day housekeeping came in the welcome pack was replenished which included complimentary eyemask, earplugs, and soothing pillowspray. The earplugs came in particularly handy as the walls were thin. I could hear every word of conversations in the rooms next door. USA Today newspapers were available in the lobby daily (not delivered to room doors). This hotel is about 1/2 way between DFW and downtown, so they offer a free shuttle to downtown, which is very convenient. The swimming pool is indoor so while it looked pleasant enough, no one was using it. Fitness center was right next to the pool area in a separate room. View from the fitness center was facing the highway. Business center was hard to find. It was on second floor, which was a floor dedicated to banquet rooms and meeting space. The business center was in a locked room - a code is needed to get in so not even sure how to access it. Small with only a few computers it almost seemed as an afterthought, which is odd since most of the people who stay here are business travelers. The restaurant was good, too (see restaurant review.) This hotel is located on Stemmens Highway, so literally faces the highway. Right across the highway is a 24/7 adult bookstore/movie theater - just in case you are into that kind of thing! I have stayed in this Dallas hotel while attending training for my job. It is located conveniently situated on Stemmons Freeway (I-35) south of Mockingbird Lane about 12 miles from Dallas Airport (Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport) and 3 miles from Love Field Airport. The downtown government and financial districts are all situated within 6 minutes of the hotel.
The most memorable part of my stay at this hotel was the Breakfast Buffet. You can choose from Omelettes, Fresh Fruit, Oatmeal, Bacon, Sausage, Eggs, many juices, coffee, muffins and bagels. There is also an indoor swimming pool with a billiards table at the poolside. Adjacent to the pool is a fitness center. This area closes at 11:00 p.m. I was surprised to learn that this hotel is pet friendly, a nice accommodation for travelers traveling with pets. A complimentary newspaper was outside the room door every morning. The room itself has a coffee maker, alarm clock, iron and ironing board and comfortable, clean beds. There is a small area with a table and two chairs. Plenty of closet and dresser drawer space for clothes. Being so close to the freeway, I was pleasantly surprised to have found the room quiet. I have no complaints about the hotel itself. However, if you are on foot, there are no restaurants or stores within walking distance from this hotel. |

$15 plus tip was the cost of the trip to get to my hotel at Market Center from DFW. So I finally get to my hotel and check in. I bid and won this Crown Plaza Market Center hotel room on priceline for the rock bottom price of $40.00 per night. The hotel was pretty and the room… The Concrete Jungle |
