Crowne Plaza Atlanta Airport East Point Reviews
Needed to rest but got cheerleaders instead! Jan 23, 2011
We selected this Crowne Plaza Hotel at Atlanta Airport because we were moving internationally from Germany to America and needed a quiet place to rest overnight with all 7 pieces of luggage and 5 carry-ons. The Crowne Plaza Hotel associated with the Priority Club Rewards program which also partners with the Holiday Inn chain. As a Priority Club member, I should expect a hotel room with the business traveler in mind. I have stayed at other Crowne Plaza Hotels previously and knew there were guaranteed "quiet zones" for business travelers. We also selected this hotel for the complimentary airport shuttle which was only 1 mile from the terminal but parallel to the Atlanta-Hartsfield Airport runways which is quieter than most along any flight path.
We were already exhausted and I had to load/unload all of our luggage for our move through customs and a second security screening at ATL airport, so I was in no mood for what was in store for us when we reached the Crowne Plaza Hotel Atlanta Airport in East Point: Hundreds of cheerleaders from grades 1-12 occupying every floor of the hotel! I specifically asked during check-in for a floor without cheerleaders and I was told every floor has them--a clear violation of the "quiet zone" guarantee which was not respected. The desk clerk gave me "'tude" and said I was welcome to call security if it got loud. Well, I ended up calling 3 times an hour because the cheerleaders decided our end of the hallway had a Coke machine around a corner where they could be out of sight of their chaperones, but directly across from our door.
The bellman was awesome and the free shuttle service was pretty good, otherwise I could not have given this hotel any stars for service. The room was like 90 degrees when we got in from our long international flight and the A/C/Heater had no "middle" temps--only FULL COLD or FULL HOT. It did have THE BEST BED WE'VE EVER SLEPT ON though....
+ Complimentary airport shuttle with great drivers
+ BEST BEDS EVER!
+ Big carts and plenty of good/friendly bellmen to help with luggage
+ Color and art in rooms were OK
- Did not have a "quiet zone" for business travelers
- Room too hot or too cold
- No refrigerator or mini-bar
- $1.00 for all local calls including Priority Club members
- Room too small for luggage (even for less than 7 bags)
- Liability and safety issues due to disruptive large underage group of kids doing advanced gymnastics in the BAR at night with adults drinking
- Did not respect Priority Club membership, no "quiet zones" and disrespectful of business travelers
- Unable to take stairwells to the first floor except in an emergency--alarmed fire exit or employee lounge only on both ends
- Expensive pay parking
- Noisy--Inside cheerleaders, outside jets and rain could be heard inside
Note: This is the second time I have written about the Crowne Plaza Hotel chain allowing children in the bar area at night. This time was much worse because the adults were drinking and the kids were doing pyramids and complicated gymnastics in the bar lounge area. UNSAT, DANGEROUS, LIABILITY, UNSAFE, etc.
I have stayed at 5-6 Crowne Plaza chain hotels and each time I've had to deal with large groups of kids in a hotel supposedly designed for business travelers. This was by far my worst experience and I will definitely seek another chain when staying in large cities in the future.

Nice hotel near ATL airport Aug 28, 2008
I stayed one night here in Atlanta due to a missed flight and have to say I was impressed with the staff and the hotel, southern hospitality at it's best.
I ordered room service and that morning the hotel manager brought my breakfast up and we chatted for a few minutes and hoped I would one day come back and enjoy her beautiful city of Atlanta again.
There's a bar near the hotel lobby and a free shuttle service to and from the airport.
