Cromwell Lodge Banbury

Very recently, we stayed the night at The Cromwell hotel in Banbury. It was a very pleasant experience. Firstly, we had to call the day before and request a ground floor room due to a knee injury that I sustained. There was absolutely no problem and they were nothing but courteous and helpful.

Upon arriving, the staff from quite friendly and we were very pleased with our room. While the rooms are a wee bit pricey at 100pounds a night, the accomodations were very comfortable.

Firstly, it was a sizeable room with a comfy, double bed. Also, there was a small sofa, writing desk and chair, wardrobe, chest of drawers, another cabinet, etc in the room and 3 windows. The windows looked out upon the lovely courtyard.

The rooms were very clean and very well kept. The decor was a nice mix of traditional with modern colors. A pleasant surprise was the flat screen TV on the wall with 9 channels available, as well as a small stereo and WiFi connections.

The Cromwell is very good at the small details. On the desk is a small book of short stories to enjoy, a brief history of the hotel and the buildings, information about Banbury, a water cooker, tea bags & instant coffee, soaps, plenty of fluffy towels, etc.

Also, as a consideration in their service... they also can help you out if you have forgotten things such as your razor, etc. Just contact the front desk. That's foresight and thoughtfulness which I really appreciate.

The bar area is very pleasant indeed. The bar itself is made from old wood, then the adjoining room has big beams on the ceiling and a massive fireplace. Throughout the room are cushy sofas, chairs, tables, etc for you to relax in. Some people were playing board games, others just chatting.

Across the hall from the bar area is the dining room. It is nicely decorated, well light and welcoming. Firstly, there is a nice buffet to choose from. This included fruits, juices, cereals, croissants, danishes, jams, and milk. Then, you can also order from the menu.

Of course, the full English breakfast is an option. If you've not ever tried a full english breakfast, you definitely should. You will not be hungry for hours! Besides the full english, there are multiple options to choose from. All of this is included with the price of your room.

While our stay was only for a single night, we very much enjoyed our stay at The Cromwell and would stay there again.
