Good for a couple of hours Jan 20, 2009
On Mitchell street in the heart of the tourist district in Darwin, Crocosaurus Cove is well worth spending a couple of hours. It costs $28 to get in, unless you buy your ticket from one of the backpacker's places for $25. There are seven large crocodiles that you can see from above and below the water, large tanks with juveniles and hatchling crocodiles and a good reptile house. There are regular talks and chances to hold a baby crocodile. They advertise free swimming with crocodiles, but this just consists of a pool next to the juvenile crocodile tank with a glass window inbetween. The pictures of people swimming with the big saltwater crocodiles are from the "tank of death", which costs a lot more at

$160 (or $180 for two people).

It's a good job we'd booked in for 2 nights as we both woke up at 9.30 this morning, I blame the thunder and very loud rain that kept us awake during the night. Today we took full advantage of the g…Darwin and took the bus back into the centre, this time we were on a mission....that mission was to visit Crocosaurus Cove
