Cristo-Rei: You can see Lisbon, but is not IN Lisbon Nov 04, 2013
I recommend the place because of the views, not because of the religious figure (typical instrument of the former Portuguese Dictatorship with the 'divine protection' of the country).

It's great "belvedere" because the place overlooks Lisbon and Almada and the Tagus, and all the other places in the northern margin.

Actually, the address is wrong, since the Cristo-Rei or Christ-the King statue (National Shrine), is not located in Lisbon, but in Almada.

It should be like this: Almada, Portugal

Almada is another Municipality and should get its credit alone.

Something in Lisbon that will make you say WOW Nov 11, 2007
Cristo-Rei (Christ the King) is a Catholic monument overlooking Lisbon, capital of Portugal. It was inspired by the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, erected in 1959 to thank God for having spared Portugal during WWII.

It is located in the municipality of Almada, located on the southern bank of the river Tejo. It is an impressive sight in itself, but visitors come here not just for Cristo Rei but to take in one of the most breaktaking views of Lisbon, Belem and Ponte 25 de Abril (April 25 Bridge). It is a great place to just chill out, have a picnic and enjoy the breathtaking view!!!
