Cristo Rei Reviews

Affordable sightseeing Mar 16, 2008
As you already known the Cristo Rei statue is the same like in Rio de Janeiro.I think you can't miss if you visit Lisbon because you never see that amazing view again from the top of the statue!!!

Cristo-Rei (Christ the King) is a Catholic monument overlooking Lisbon, capital of Portugal. It was inspired by the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, erected in 1959 to thank God for having spared Portugal during WWII.

It is located in the municipality of Almada, located on the southern bank of the river Tejo. It is an impressive sight in itself, but visitors come here not just for Cristo Rei but to take in one of the most breaktaking views of Lisbon, Belem and Ponte 25 de Abril (April 25 Bridge). It is a great place to just chill out, have a picnic and enjoy the view!!!
