Lake Naivasha, Kenya
Crescent Island Lake Naivasha Reviews
A walk on the wild side Jun 12, 2011
Crescent Island is a private game reserve where you walk among zebras, wildebeests, gazelles and giraffes. The animals are used to humans and let you get close enough for really good photos and memories.
The birds on Lake Naivashu are worth the trip alone. I saw hundreds of pelicans, beautiful Kingfishers, many cormorants, and a whole bunch of African Fish Eagles.
There is a small marina type facility on the south side of the island where you hire the boat and the guide.
Be sure to wear real shoes or hiking boots. It is a mile or so walk across the island and it has a whole lot of dung on it.
Maybe most spectacular are the hippos in the lake. The boat gets as closes as if safe and they are quite the show offs.
