Crater Lake was amazing. It lies inside a caldera, or volcanic basin, created when the 12,000 foot high Mount Mazama collapsed 7,700 years ago following a large eruption. The lake is the 7th deepest in the world and the deepest in the United States. Also, there is a hidden volcano larger than Wizard Island submerged beneth the lake. And some of the under water moss is more than 20 feet thick and 6,000 years old. The drive around the lake is 33 miles with lots of things to see along the way....
