Crandon Park Key Biscayne Reviews
To escape from South Beach Jun 05, 2010
To everyone who claims that Miami is not eco-friendly: take a morning stroll around Crandon Park.
The place is gorgeous with thick coastal forests of sea grapes, papayas, agave....There are mangrove estuaries on the shores and creeks, beaches (of course), and tidal rock pools great for spotting hermit crabs, starfish, and birds.
There is a visitor's center with restrooms, water fountains, and learning center (with crustaceans and fish in a small aquarium) as well as a pavillion or two on the trails.
I'd lie if I said that Crandon wasn't hot as hell in the afternoon or packed with mosquitos in the trail, but this is easily the best place to see what South Florida's shoreline was before South Beach existed.
