In Spring 2013, we went to visit Cragside, a National Trust property in Northumberland.

The country house once belonged to Lord Armstrong, a Victorian inventor, innovator and landscape genius, and his talent is evident inside his house with gadgets which were ahead of its time. It is the first house to be lit by hydroelectricity. An interesting house to explore.

It is worth spending time in its grounds and rocks gardens and crossing the iron bridge across Debdon Burn. We spent some considerable time exploring Cragside and it is certainly a place worth visiting.

It's difficult reaching Cragside if you don't have a car as public transport is limited.
