B&B with a warm heart Sep 18, 2010
Craglands Guest House is located in the outskirts of Keswick. It is a good privately run B&B with a homey feeling. The owners, Pauline and Mark, are very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The guest house is a 10 minutes walk from the town centre if you follow the Keswick Railway Footpath or a little bit longer if you follow the road.

Cragland Guest House has 7 rooms, 2 single and 5 double. 4 of the double rooms have en-suite, the other one plus the single rooms have washbasin and shared bathroom. The shared bathroom and toilet were spotless. All bedrooms have colour television, hairdryer, radio/alarm clock and coffee/tea facilities. The seven rooms are named after a Crag on the Scafell Range - the higher the room, the higher the crag. I stayed in the Chambers Crag. The only thing I missed was internet access.

The highlight of the stay was the wonderful home cooked breakfast. In the evening you turn in a form where you choose what you would like to have for breakfast and at what time you would like it, 8 am or 9 am - or earlier on request. I was leaving at 5:30 am on my last day and was not going to have any breakfast. Pauline said that she was up before that and insisted that I had to eat something before I left. At 5:15 am she had made tea, toast, fruit salad and her home made yoghurt. How nice!

There is no restaurant at the guesthouse, but they are very helpful in recommending a restaurant in Keswick. If you would like a packet lunch Pauline will make you one for 4,75.

Cragland Guest House is a convenient place to stay. The owners are so caring and they manage to give the place a homey feeling. If I return to Keswick I would stay here again.
