Cracow ZOO Krakow Reviews
Afordable entertainment for each age group May 31, 2011
Cracow ZOO/Cracow Zoological Garden is located in Las Wolski (Wolski Forest) which is also known as Park Miejski (City Park).
The forest is located on Jurassic plateau (that is 345 metres high) and the ZOO is located at the top of this plateau.
HOW TO GET THERE:
To get there the best decision is to take dedicated bus number 134 which departures every 15 - 30 minutes (depending on the part of the year, most often during summer season) from the Hotel Cracovia in the strict Cracow center.
Cracow ZOOs most interesting animals include: Cittas , two female Indian elephants, a herd of pygmy hippopotamuses, a herd of Przewalski horses (that are no longer found in the wild life), rare species of antelope, the South American tapir, Chapmans, bees farm or the South American sea lion.
Of course in the ZOO there are lots of animals and birds typical for polish region e.g. storks.
The ZOO also include so-called Mini ZOO - a small, separeted part of it with such spieces like vietnamese pigs, heans, rabbits and other small animals that children can play with or just observe them.
Ticket for an adult person costs 15 PLN, for children or students there are always some discounts.
WHEN TO GO:
The best time is between late spring and late fall. The biggest amount of people visit it on sundays but the area is so big that you don't feel the crowds.
In front of the ZOO there is an open air restaurant and bus stop. Five minutes by walk from the ZOO there is a car park.
WHAT ELSE TO DO:
The whole Wolski Forest is divided into different paths (they are marked by the colors, printed on trees) which you can use to spend your day walking, running, riding a bike etc.
