Bienviendo to the home of sombreros,
tequila, and bull fighting...or is it? Mexico is full of stereotypes and I saw
none of them first hand. The only sombreros I saw were on the heads of frat
boys and a group of Marines who just got back from Iraq. I saw no matadors
strolling the streets nor did I see any salsa dancing or maracas. Instead, I
found a beautiful city nestled on the Caribbean Sea.
Today almost all of our group booked a
high speed catamar...

This would be our second day without a port. Tomorrow would be our last full day of the cruise so we knew the end was in sight. But, it wasn’t here yet, so we still had sun to soak up and things to do. After we slept in, of course. We missed our normal breakfast, but nobody complained. Finding food was not exactly hard. There were several spots up on Deck 9 that served food. There was Goofy’s Galley, that specialized in hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken fingers, and the like. Near by we have ...

The first thing I see when I get off the cruise ship at Cozumel is not exotic flora nor charming landscape. It is a construction site for a concrete strip mall that blocks the view of the island. I guess this is so that people in the future can hop off the ship, grab a flame-broiled Whopper from Burger King, and spend a pleasant afternoon shopping in the cool of air-conditioned shade, all without the inconvenience of actually seeing the island. The strip mall is not finished yet, so instead we...

Cozumel is where I became a certified diver. Although it took away from the vacation a little, since I was in a classrom setting for all of one day. I did not get to see the sites everyone else in my group got to enjoy that day. However it was not a total loss, and when it came to the diving it was all worth it! The diving was amazing comfortable water temperatures, clear blue water as far as the eye can see, and tons of colorful marine life! Our dive guide took ...

Today was a day that we were so excited about; the day we got to swim with the dolphins. Of course in true K&S fashion that excitement was also tempered with apprehension for 2 reasons. First, Kerry can't swim and I have not been a fan of my feet dangling in the water since I fell off a boat on the Monongahela River, cut my leg and got attacked by fish when I was a kid. That and the fact that growing up we would go to Virgina Beach every summer and my dad would ta...

Cozumel is one of my favorite places. Why - I just do not know. On our very first cruise, Bill and I enjoyed our day in Coz, and had hoped to repeat memories. What we didn't think about was the after effects of the hurricane in 2005. Our Mariner of the Seas Thanksgiving cruise had been scheduled to port in Cozumel, but due to the devastation was cancelled. Taking this cruise, we were in hopes that things may be back to normal over a year later.
We were scheduled...

We arrived at Cozumel at 0800, we had made arrangements for an off shore excursion of clear bottom kayaking and unlimited snorkeling. We really had our hearts set on some scubadiving though, but we could not set 2 excursions thru the boat at once. We left hoping that once there if time permited we could do some scubadiving on our own. The first excursion was supposed to be from 1000 to 1300, giving us 4 hours of free time in which we thought we could easily get 2 dives in 3 ...

The next morning our son had to be at the Adventure Ocean Club bright and early for rehearsals. He had signed up to perform in the Children’s Talent Show on the final day at sea. He had called each and every one of the family in their rooms to personally invite them to come to his show. And quite a show it was! Everyone turned up for it eager to watch.
Looking absolutely dapper in a three piece suit, he played on the keyboard some songs that h...

In Cozumel Mexico we decided to dedicate this port as a beach day, we searched online for a good location and ran into a placed called Nachi-Cocom. The is a secluded private beach club, with a large pool, spa and private beach areas with chairs provided. The beach club has a open bar with all you can drink, and provides a three course lunch. It was truly a great place to just relax and enjoy the great service provided, massages and other spa treatments were provided on location. Cozumel itsel...

I decided that the best way to finish off 2007 was to take a great holiday just before Christmas. So my housemate and I headed over to the States. We had a couple of days in snowy and cold New York, followed by Miami, Tampa and then a cruise around the Caribbean. And here are the pictures...

We took a Cruise on Carnival Holiday that left from Mobile, Alabama and visited Progreso and Cozumel. We took a shore excursion in Progreso to see Mayan ruins at Dzibilchaltun and then went to Playa Mia Beach in Cozumel.
