Cowles Mountain San Diego Reviews
Hiking for Everyone Apr 10, 2010
If you are looking for an outdoor activity that makes you feel great and doesn't cost anything take a hike up Cowles Mountain. It is located in the San Carlos area of San Diego.
I like to go early am when the air is crisp and you can hear life awakening. It's really nice when you can see the sunrise. This morning was not a clear day but wanted to share with you. As the day goes you will find more people hiking at the trail can get quite busy and you do get a better view.
To the top and back is about 3 miles, over 1500 feet at the summit, and took me 1hr and half today (first time back since fall and stop for photos). You will find a variety of people along the trail and most will greet you.
If this is something you want to do and don't have transportation you can take a public bus No. 115 which will let you off at Golfcrest/Jackson. Walk north one block and you will arrive to the staging area to your right after you cross the street.
There is a small coffee shop across from the mountain but please don't leave your coffee cups on the trail. That is the one con is that some people don't respect nature and leave their trash.
Have a great time!
