Courtyard by Marriott San Diego Downtown Reviews
Bland hotel right on the edge of gaslamp district Sep 27, 2011
This Courtyard is right at the end of the gaslamp district in downtown San Diego. Good location if you are looking to stay mostly in downtown.
The hotel itself is quite strange. It was originally a bank and the meeting rooms below still have the bank deposit security lock doors which are interesting to see. But the common areas, hallways, and rooms feel more like office building than a hotel. Hard to describe but there is no character to the hotel.
The rooms themselves are what you would expect from a Courtyard though - comfy bed and clean bathroom.
Nicely equipped gym is a plus but no pool is a minus. Expensive valet parking (only option) is a minus but my car was always available when I got downstairs.
Overall, there are plenty of other nicer hotels just nearby but consider this hotel if you are looking for a basic stay with a good location and price.

The building was once a bank located in a perfect location in the Gaslamp District of San Diego. Nothing too fancy. The only negative is there is no self-parking but that is expected for any hotels in the downtown area.
The rooms have enough space for two people, average-sized bathroom, TV, hair dryer, iron, all the basic stuff but no mini-fridge.
If you don't plan to stay in your hotel all day then this would be a great hotel to consider.
