Courtyard by Marriott Amsterdam Airport Hoofddorp Reviews

A relaxed arrangement before flying out Jul 03, 2013
This airport hotel is located in a large park in Hoofddorp, a community close to Schiphol airport. On the premises there also is an event center and various restaurants.

The hotel itself consists of a large building with a tower. Upon entering there is a large lobby with kiosk and vending machines. The reception is located towards the back of the lobby.

We were quickly and efficiently checked-in and we can leave our car three weeks at the hotel's giant outdoor parking. We received an envelope to put out car keys and gps in, which we could then leave at the hotel's safe. In return we received a copy of the paper we signed. Upon return, we would have to sign again to get our stuff back.

Room 803, in the tower, turned out to be a large American style twin; meaning there were two queen size beds. The interior is rather classic and all needed facilities are there: kettle, iron and board and a large safe. Too bad that wifi in the room is paid. At the lobby however it is free of charge.

The bathroom is spacious with both a bath tub and a shower and plenty of toiletries. A hairdryer is also available.

Even though we were close to the elevator, the room turned out well sound-proofed.

On the premises there are various restaurants and a bar annex breakfast room. The breakfast was not too large but had a very nice selection of hot and cold items. There was even fish, cheese cake and Dutch specialties like "poffertjes" and "hagelslag".

The park around the hotel is large enough for jogging. There is even a map in the room with jogging routes. Bikes can be rented too and are stationed in front of the hotel. There appears to be a bowling alley too and there is a sauna and fitness room. But we didn't check these facilities out.

The shuttle to the airport needs to be reserved and we did receive a voucher for our allocated time. The shuttle back does not need a reservation. The drive towards Schiphol only takes a mere fifteen minutes, despite traffic.

In my opinion, this is a good first class hotel. It's classic but has plenty of facilities. The "park sleep and fly" deal sets us back a mere 137 € and inludes: twin share with buffet breakfast, shuttle to and from the airport and 21 days of parking. That's cheaper than taking the train to Schiphol from where I live and much more relaxing. I surely recommend this to travellers with an early flight.
