Courtyard By Marriott Alexandria Reviews

Jan 23, 2008
Situated on the 8th floor facing the beltway, I had the joy of listening to all the faint sound of traffic cruising along 495. But other than that, the hotel is pretty decent. Like most Marriott's they have a "free" shuttle that can take you to places like: the metro station, or King St. in downtown Alexandria where there are a lot of restaurants. I say free because you are encouraged to tip.

The breakfast food is not very good. Like this morning, there was very few scrambled eggs left in the bin and they were a bit dry. The potatoes, cut into small bits, are usually good, but only when fresh. Most mornings I refer to them as potato rocks. They have a selection of breakfast sausages, pastries, and fruit. It's simply a standard, so-so hotel breakfast. They also have a happy-hour with a bar downstairs in the lobby and a few snacks here and there. While the nachos aren't the best I've ever had, they weren't bad and I ate them at least 3 days out of my 2 weeks here.

The best thing about the hotel is it's location. Right off the 495 you can zip around the beltway to get up to Maryland or get to the airport with relative ease. You can walk to the Eisenhower Ave. metro station and catch either the Yellow or Blue lines. Giving you easy access to downtown DC and all the historical museums and sites. And on your walk you can pick up a coffee at Starbuck's or visit a few restaurants next door. There is also an AMC theater on the way, so if you are in need to catch up on a recent release you can!
