Amazing small art gallery with extensive Impressionism collection Jun 07, 2011
This is one of my favourite museums in London. It is not on the list for most tourists, but I would definitely recommmend visiting this museum. If you are fond of paintings and in particular (post-)impressionistic art, this is the place to be for you. It is not as crowded as the National Gallery - even though this major museum has an amazing collection as well. It is not free as most museums in London, but the 6 pound entrance fee is definitely worth it. You can find works of Renoir, Monet, Gauguin, Van Gogh and many others.

The museum also exhibits temporary collections.

Small gallery - great works Nov 02, 2010
If you only like giant galleries like the Louvre or the Hermitage, you might as well give this a miss and concentrate on the National and the Tate. However, if you do, you will be missing a choice collection of art works.

Here the gallery is best known for its Impressionis and pot-Impressionist works but there are actually choice 20th century and earlier works as well and sculpture and - - -. I must admit it was the best known section above that first drew me and I was not disappointed. Monet, Manet, Van Gogh, Cezannes, Degas, Renoir and Seurat are all to be found here, including some very well known works.

Admission £6 (£4.50 concessions). Free under 18 and full-time UK students.
