The monument to the Cossacks of Ukraine Jul 25, 2017
The monument to the Cossacks of Ukraine was dedicated in 1994. The inscription on the marble cross reads, "To the fallen Ukrainian Cossaсks". The monument is not far from Sunny Park.

You can see Cossacks’ spears and the shield with the coat-of-arms of Poltava at the foot of the cross. By erecting this monument, the Poltavites paid tribute to the glorious sons of their native land, who had laid their lives for the freedom of Ukraine in the distant past.

There is another monument dedicated to the Ukrainian Cossacks: the monument to Ivan Mazepa, the Hetman (Cossacks ruler) of Ukraine. It stands in Cathedral Square in front of the cathedral. It was unveiled on October 14, 2015. The sculpture is 3.2 meters high, and its weight is 2.5 tons. It was erected on people’s donations.

To get here, you can take bus No.15, which stops at the intersection with Unity Street not far from the White Rotunda.
