Corniglia Overview

The high and mighty of Cinque Terre, Corniglia is the sole village not sitting on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. Rather, Corniglia is perched upon cliffs well above the water (which affords stunning views towards Manarola) and to underscore this attribute, you will find yourself climbing a stairway of 382 steps after getting off at the train station down by sea level!

Corniglia is also the smallest village (population under 250), so there is not a wealth of eating or lodging options, but opportunities remain. Scarcity is compensated for by a splendid relaxed vibe...no rushing about here, just savor the splendid views from these heights.

As you notice the hillsides of terraced vineyards, keep in mind Corniglia has produced acclaimed wine since ancient times, advertised upon vases from Pompeii!
