Before I went to bed had at least one Guinness and some nice G&T´s. The last thing I did before I hit the sack was to look at the map that Hertz had given me when I rented the car. I looked at the map and decided for Cork. Again I don’t know why but I had probably heard about it somewhere. Cork it had to be. Along with the key-card to open the door they had put and reduction card for the breakfast from 22 € to 15 € ad I decided that I would check it out when I woke up.
I woke up ...

Well today I was inspired to go for a walk around my hometown and take a few photos. I drove into University College Cork and parked the car. I have been a student here for the past four years, and my spell here is now coming to an end! UCC is a must-see if you're visiting Cork, and it's also a nice place to sit out and relax on a warm summer's day. I'll write more information about UCC in a review later, but I took some photos of the Quad, some of the buildings and the Lewis Glucksman Galler...

The county of Cork is just south of my home-county,Limerick, but we still had a 2 and 1/2 hour drive to were we headed: Youghal.
Youghal (pronounced Yawl) is said to have been largely influenced by the vikings. Arriving in the 9th century they used it as a base to raid nearby wealthy monastic sites such as Ardmore, Lismore and Molana. It seems the Vikings conquered every place they went until they got to Ireland, conquered it, and were never heard from again? ; ). The town is supposed ...

Poor Nina, she didn't get to sleep well for two night because of ME! On
the first night she blames it on me sleeping very very slanted/diagonal
on the bed. Well, I was just cold and I didn't know where to find
another blanket so I had to squeeze in my cutie legs into her blanket
and just used pillows for my tiny arms to keep myself warm. On the
second night, she was fooking scared of me taking a picture of her
while sleeping so she only slept on one side. Cooooome on, am I that
bad? Am...

I was not at all ready to get up. I got on the train, though, and here I sit. Time to attempt to get my second half of last night's sleep in. Oh, here comes the trolly lady, just like in Harry Potter. I got off the train in Cork and walked directly to the bus station. I bout a 5.6 euro round trip ticekt to Blarney. It was cold and rainy again today, so I walked to the castle and wow! Not only did I get to kiss the Blarney Stone, but the castle itself was amazing! Very tight and steep...

The ride to Cork was pretty uneventful; it pretty much consisted of more driving and more iPod. Along the way we decided to stop at Waterford as Angie’s family lineage came from there. We wouldn’t be hitting mine as Belfast was too far a car ride for the amount of time we had in Ireland. I will go there one day, but this trip there just wasn’t enough time.
We really didn’t get a big feel of Waterford as we had a lot on the agenda and were just passing throug...

I was in the Cork during the jazz festival which happen every Year on the last weekend of October. An unbelievable Atmosphere ruled in the city. One goes the streets along and from everywhere u can hear live music. Indeed, jazz is not played everywhere,in smaller pubs rather more rock . Many people from other parts of Ireland and other countrys come to this time in Cork.It was just great!!! `Cause we were constantly in the celebration , I hadn`t time to shoot more pics from Cork and around :-...

Sept. 10, 2007: Day 6 – True Couchsurfers
Over the night two Couchsurfers had responded to our requests. So, we had a free place to stay that night! It was going to be Justin’s first Couchsurfing experience too.
Unfortunately we had no place to store our bags and carried them around all day until Tania (Couchsurfer for that night) text us and said we could store them at her apartment.
We didn’t get the text until around 3pm, and so from 10am-3pm we lugged ou...

The early start went according to plan. Waking up at 5.30am would give me a chance to get up and go, I know I had to be out the door at 6am. Leaving at 6.05am meant that I had to walk with my rucksack that much quicker to the station, however I purchased my ticket and got onto the platform to catch the 6.20am train to kings cross with 30 seconds to spare. The flight going out was delayed by what the captain said was a 'minor fault that needed looking into', all very reassuring. ...

Collecting our luggage from under the bus at our destination, one of the French girls approached me again. She and her friends had reserved accommodations at the Cork YHA (Cork International Youth Hostel) and she asked if I could help them find it. Pulling out my map to lead the way, I gladly obliged. Before long, we were at the door of the large brick building that matched the photo on my printed list of hostel options.
Prior to my travels, I had not made any reser...

We arrived in Cork yesterday afternoon. After driving around the city lost for a couple of hours we finally found our hotel and got settled in. Our hotel room is awesome, Dad really did a great job. We are right up the street from the River Lee and City Centre and right at the based of the clock tower famously known as the "four-faced liar". It is called that because it has four clock faces that each tell a slightly different time. Jeff and I went out on the town last night while Dad caught u...

rainbows in ireland are abundant. we saw three in one day...you rarely see three in one year in california!
ireland is everything that i pictured - green, calm, peaceful, quiet. just stretches of green for ages and ages with lots of sheep! and by lots i mean tons! all the doors are very colorful, especially in dublin. we saw red, blue, pink, purple - any color you could imagine. i like that idea. i'd like to have a colorfu...

We arrived to our hostel in Cork Ireland and was staying in what seemed like a jail cell. But we were travleing on a budget so we can't complain. It was very dark and there were multiple people snoring loud so it was quite difficult to get ready for bed.We took a bus to Blarney, Ireland which is only about 20 minutes by bus to visit the Blarney Castle. It is a beautiful area and if you love photography, you'll love this place. You can walk throughout almost the whole c...
