Cord Manchester Reviews
Cord Apr 02, 2010
Cord is a bar in the Northern Quarter in Manchester, close to the Craft centre.
Cord is a great place to start an evening, although the basement always smells a little funny until you get used to it. The decor is quite cool. The upper level (at the ground floor) is sort of funky and dark, and the basement is tiled and filled with Chaise longue. The beer is good, there is a nice selection of cider, and generally I like the place.
There are some draw backs, however. The first is that the toilets get manky surprisingly early in the evening. This shouldn't be acceptable. There is also the slight issue that later in the evening the place can get totally rammed, which is fine if you like busy bars but less fun if you don't. Also, ladies, just be aware that the floor under the top level bar is glass and those of us in the basement can, if we so choose, see right up your skirts. If you are wearing jeans, this is not an issue - if you are wearing a dress, this is a great excuse to send a man to get your drinks.
That said, I've been many times and it is a good spot.
