Beautiful Lake View from the room Dec 15, 2016
We booked this place as I would like to have a lake view room, as staying in Queenstown without seeing the lake from the room is not a complete experience for me, and I would not break the long tradition.

The hotel building is huge and people can get lost in there including us.

We arrived early in the hotel and unfortunately our room was not ready yet. So we drop our luggage at the hotel, and then walk to explore the town. The reception was not that friendly and I thought it was a bit cold for this big hotel. We managed to borrow an umbrella from the hotel as it was rain, and apparently they put a note that we take an umbrella and when we check out 4 days later they requested the umbrella back (which we put inside the room), otherwise they charged it to our room account.

Once we get back from town exploration at very late afternoon around 6pm, our room was ready and our luggage was sent to the room. So after we get the key and direction to the room, we take the lift to go down (yes go down and not go up) since the reception building is at the high ground level. And then we have to walk a very long corridors to the room – we were a bit lost here as the hotel buildings consist of 4 different layout and zig zag in between.

Finally we managed to find our room, but we get a bit lost again on the way out toward the reception as we could not find the lift to go up.

The room itself is big to my liking with one small balcony facing the beautiful lake view and the other big balcony facing the street. The view toward the lake was relaxing and beautiful especially when the sun start to go down. The room standard was okay for the 4 stars hotel but the hotel building itself is aging and it shows in the furniture inside the room. The bathroom is big with a bathtub, but we do not use it.

At night time, it was very quiet at the room even though our room is next to the street, we do not hear any traffic and we can sleep well at this place. The bed and mattress was big and very comfortable. All the amenities such as television, air condition, shower, refrigerator, etc, working well.

The cleaner clean and change the towel every day, but not the bedsheet. I think they changed the bedsheet on the third day.

We do not take the breakfast offer as it was expensive for the cost of NZ$25++ for one person, instead we have our own breakfast. We have dinner at the hotel restaurant and it was good value for money and the food was good as well. Unfortunately the price was very high as it was close to Christmas and New Year. We paid close to NZ$1,000 for 3 nights stay.

Good food Dec 17, 2016
We have dinner at the hotel restaurant as I was lazy to go out to the town and decided to try the food here.

The restaurant was a bit quiet and the staff was friendly. After given the menu we were offered the drinks which is really good service and they leave us to browse the menu before come back a short while.

We decided to take their special offer of 3 courses meal which is really good value for money and I found it was really cheap for this kind restaurant compare with other restaurant we been dine at the city center.

There were slightly mixed up with our order and they rectify it quickly and we get the wrong order food for free.

I found the food was good and above average and the service was good as well.

Unfortunately we cannot see much of the lake view from our table, even though the restaurant located at the lake front, and it was too cold to dine at the open space at the balcony.

If you want good food at reasonable price, this restaurant is tick all the boxes.
