The ruins at Copan are really awesome.  It is amazing to see what the world was like hundreds of years ago.  The ruins are unlike anything you could imagine in our times.  There are altars and monuments for rituals the likes of which we could never imagine these days.  The stone carved city is amazing.  It must have been quite a site in it's time.  I did not hire a guide but bought a little map that was for sale at the visitor center.  The map was quite help...
