Pictures from my trip

When a friend came down for a visit to Roatan, we decided we'd take a bustrip to Copan and Guatemala for a week, with my two boys, age 2 and 4. A whole new meaning to backpacking, when your pack contains a wriggling 2 yr old!

First time to Central America. No plans, no guide books, and no common sense. Just a back pack and a couple of dollars.

We arrived yesterday morning in Copan Ruinas town after a long and crowded minibus ride.  I think our max speed was 40 mph and at one point we were carrying about 40 or 45 people in a bus with seats for about 20.  Good times.  Copan Ruinas is a nice little town.  We wandered about and did some internetting and decided to go to the ruins in the late afternoon after the sun came out.  Here are a few pictures of the ruins.  They are f…

A very beautiful travel to Guatemala, little bit of Honduras, Belize and little bit of Southern Mexico. I saw great places, enjoyed very funny activities and meeting some very nice people (You are one of them Juan Carlos!)

The bus ride up to Copan was pretty smooth.. a bit too smooth in fact.  Trey and I slept through our stop and had to get off at the next town and take a $25 taxi to where we were suppose to get off.  Then we started looking for a shuttle to take us to Copan-- this took longer than expected.  All of a sudden, the temperature dropped about 20 degrees and i noticed some black clouds in the distance.  The clouds rolled in fast and before we knew it, we were in the middle of a …

Finally managed to leave Utila after a poor showing in my snorkel test. The last test before you become a divemaster is a taking a wholesale quantity of rum, coke beer etc. out of a glorified funnel made out of a snorkel and mask. I was a complete wimp and spat it out after a few seconds and to complete my shame, Ramona, a non drinking German woman wiped the floor with her effort. Oh well.   Efter San Marcos tog vi tilbage til Antigua hvor jeg skulle tjekkes paa hospitalet. Laegen sagde at alt saa fint ud saa vi skyndte os ned i byen og booke en tur ud af Guatemala. Vi tog afsted kl 4 imorges og kl 11 var vi saa her i Copan, Honduras, ca 10 km fra graensen til Guatemala. Den forste og storste forskel vi har fundet ved de 2 lande er helt klart vejeret. Det er meget varmere her i Honduras, hvor jeg ikke for brug for min fleece som jeg var saa glad for i Antigua. Folk virke…

We arrived in the town of Copan Ruinas, the same name as the ruins just down th road.  We found a great hotel, one of the nicest yet! The town itself is really lovely, all colonial and cobbly and very Spanish. The surrounding area is very hilly and picturesque. It was quite hot, although we were pretty used to the heat by then. Decidedly happy to be done with my third year of medical school, I decided it was time to get back on the international travel scene. I only had 10 days, and my trip was rushed, but I managed to hit a few of the highlights that this amazing country has to offer. Enjoy!!

Hi Everyone,Me again.  Just a little message to say that i picked up my diving bag *yay* and then got out of san pedro sula... nothing personal just didnt like it there.  Am in copan looking at some cool Mayan Ruins and am then getting a late bus back to san pedro tomorrow to start my diving adventures on weds morning, until Aug 28th!!
