Connys Creamy Cone Reviews
old fashioned rootbeer stand Aug 10, 2008
Conny's Creamy cone, located in a residential area of St. Paul, boasts 24 flavors of soft serve ice cream. However, I was more impressed with the root beer stand atmosphere than the soft serve.
The cute little red and white building sits on a corner and you order from the window outside. The prices were cheap and you can get a meal for $5 that includes a hot dog, fries and ice cream. Yum! How can you beat that? I had two hot dogs with cheese - yummy - and shared cheese curds with Julie. I introduced her to eating cheese curds with ketchup. Mmmm! And I topped it off with a chocolate malt - I love those things! The kids working behind the counter were friendly and efficient and the food was delicious. Even considering the price ;) I was excited to find out that it is very close to work and can't wait to go eat there again! Part of the Minneapolis Travbuddy Meetup Aug 08!!! travel blog |

Soft Serve Ice Cream Goodness Mar 08, 2008
So 2 weeks ago I was telling my roomies sister-in-law about the ice cream place I went to in Florida where it had 27 different places of soft serve ice cream! She then told me that there's a place in St. Paul that had 24 flavors and that I should check it out when it opens... well, imagine my surprise when I opened my email this morning and there was an email from her telling me that the ice cream place opened yesterday... so I looked them up on the web and gave them a call to find their hours
I called a couple of friends and Jamie and her Boyfriend, QA, said that they'd go and so we met up after they were done studying at 7PM. As I was driving through downtown St. Paul my phone rings... it's Jamie. She's concerned because it's 19 degrees F outside, snowing and there's not a dining area to eat, it's just a walk up to the windown and order counter. I told her I figured that because it was closed for the season and just opened up yesterday until the fall. But we were wondering why Dairy Queen opens up at the end of April or beginning of may and this place opens up March 7th when there's still a lot of snow on the ground! I pulled up the road to get there, wondering if it'd be a big ice cream cone building like the one in Orlando, but it wasn't... it was a square building with a big cone ontop of it. I pulled my car up to Jamie's and we hopped out and got the cones. I got a Amaretto with Chocolate and Jamie got peppermint and QA got butterscotch... QA loved it so much that he headed back out of the car to get a cone of cheese cake! It was delicious... just like I hoped! And just watch out because if you go here when it's not 20 degrees F outside the line goes around the corner and it has a long wait! Part of the My Snow Globe I used to call Home... After the Irish Fair Julie took me to her favorite ice cream place - Conny's creamy cone in St. Paul, which apparently has 24 flavors of soft serve! Instead I got two hot dogs and a malt. Julie got a polish dog and cone and we shared cheese curds. Yum. And after that I bought… breakfast and a jig |
