Looks old but it is newly constructed Feb 05, 2017
I was waling back from Baguashan to the bus station when i passed Confucius Temple and according to my guidebook it was one of the oldest Confucian temples in Taiwan but nobody seemed to be around. I had also been walking all day so there was no entrance on my side and i did not feel like making the effort to locate it. It was constructed in 1726 and is considered a first class historical relic and on the 28th September every year there is a colorful ceremony to celebrate the great man's birthday. The temple is actually a reconstruction of the original one and was built in 1978 based on historical documentation. AND it is only 2/3 of the original size. Probably just as well i did not bother visiting it.
