Community Garage and Sidewalk Sales Travel Reviews

Aug 11, 2007
The second weekend in August is when this sleepy little town becomes a hub for the bargain shopper. It’s Community Garage Sale weekend! For a price, local residents can purchase a sign and advertising to the community garage sale. Signs are placed in front of literally hundreds of homes this weekend and the garage sales are on. Lists of all the sales are at the Chamber of Commerce and area businesses free of charge. (There is also a list included in the local paper.) If you’re looking for the odd and unique, or you simply love to garage sale, this is the time to come into Upper Sandusky and check it out.

Along with the garage sales, the local business have a luau- themed sidewalk sale. Area businesses offer discounts and sales that they don’t offer other times during the year. You can find treasures from stores such as Lynn’s Country Creations (country crafts, collectibles, and Heritage lace), The Scottish Store (everything Scottish imported by the Scottish store owners), and Pamela’s Unique Boutique (wedding accessories, Yankee Candle, designer dresses, and much more), and Children’s Village (Brand name children’s clothing). There’s also a Mexican Market, Corner Store, Wood’s Antiques, Koehler’s Hallmark and Drug Store, Sew Nice, Bud's Bicycle Shop, The Scrapbook Store, The Bean Tree, and other great small-town shops. It’s a wonderful way to spend a lazy summer afternoon.

So if you need an excuse to visit Upper Sandusky, the community garage sales are as good as any. Thursday – Sunday, usually the second weekend in August. See the Chamber of Commerce website (http://www.uppersanduskychamber.com/) for more information, times, and dates.
