Stockholm is a beautiful city with great communications. There are buses, subway, shuttles and cable cars. SL (Stockholms lokaltrafik = the Stockholm Public Transport Company) will take you to all the sights in Stockholm and even throughout Stockholm county.
The Stockholm subway is almost 110 km long and consists of three lines, the green, red and blue. Subway stations are marked with a blue T. The Stockholm subway has been called the world's longest art exhibition, since many stations are richly decorated, particularly along the blue line. If you're interested in visiting two great tourist attractions in Stockholm such as the Vasa museum or Skansen you can take the bus line nr 47 (To Gröna Lund (funfair), Skansen and the Vasa Museum) So a great way, and a cheap way (!) to explore Stockholm, is to buy a "Stockholm Card": The Stockholm Card gives you free entry to 75 museums and attractions, free travel by public transport, free sightseeing by boat as well as several other bonus offers. You decide whether you want a card that is valid for 24, 48 or 72 hours. The card will not be valid until it is stamped with the time and date the first time you use it. The card is valid once per attraction and entitles you to unlimited travel by metro, bus and commuter train. It costs between 290-540 kr depending on how many hours you want to use it. You can buy it online, in Stockholm Tourist Centre or in SL-center. Enjoy! |
