If you are lucky enough to catch these, take it!!!! Jun 06, 2011
For someone who has been a railroad nut for many years, it seems that recently airplanes, old airplanes especially have been finding there way into my life. Just a short time ago we got the chance to visit the Castle Air Museum in Atwater, and today we got another great surprise. The two WWII bombers from Commemorative Air Force Arizona Wing Aviation Museum visited our city. Each summer they fly from one town to another for a couple of days showing off their completely restored B-17 and B-25. The B- 17 Flying Fortress named “Sentimental Journey” was built just as the European war was ending, so it spent time in the Pacific theater. The B-25 Mitchell dubbed “Maid in the Shade” has spent the last 25 years being restored to full flying condition including all exterior and interior finishes and painting. The planes are here in Visalia from June 6th til June 9th, when they fly to their next stop. You can take tours inside both planes for a small donation of $5 for adults, $3 for children 5 through 12 and free for kids under 5. There were several flights offered also for $395 and 425. Both planes are amazing to see at this point in time. And to see them actually flying was a real pleasure.
