An ideal base camp for Sequioa NP visitors... Oct 03, 2014
We had the experience to stay in this hotel during our visit to the national park on a snowy day, and did not want to drive home to come back again in the park the next day.
Walking distance to the hotel is a grocery store, a pizzeria, Mexican restaurant, the town’s post office, a few private owned motels, herb garden, and even a lumber shop. There is also an ice cream place less than a mile away.
The hotel desk person was friendly and welcoming. The check-in process was easy and fast.
The room assigned for us was at the third floor of the building, which was a bit uncomfortable for my (aging) mother. However, we took the elevator and whisked us up in no time.
The first impression I had of the room was gloomy, probably because of the weather or it could be the hunter green color of the bed covers. The room was still quite dark even after we turned on the lights. The window is not wide enough to bring in natural light. I like the mountain views seen through the small window.
Heating system worked properly.
Our beds were comfortable. We stayed in a 2-queen bed room. Floor carpeting looked clean.
Bathroom was clean.
Continental breakfast was inclusive in the room-rate. My children enjoyed making their own waffles.
I spotted an outdoor swimming pool, but I am not sure if the water is heated.
This hotel makes a good basecamp for those who are visiting the Sequoia National Park, due to its close proximity of the said park.

This is a brand new hotel right in the middle of our downtown area. It is directly across the street from Visalia's Convention Center and within close walking distance to theaters, night life, restaurants and shopping. They feature 72 rooms, which all contain microwaves, refrigerator, iron/board, and hair dryer. Also the clock radios have a plug in for your mp3 player and you get free wired or wireless high-speed internet access. The hotel offers a fitness room that you may need after enjoying the extended breakfast that is included with your room and includes Belgium Waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, an array of breads and muffins, cereal, yogurt, and fresh fruit. Very good place for it's closeness to downtown and the Convention Center.
