Comfort Inn Airport & Conference Center St Louis

The Comfort Inn Airport and Conference Center in STL won't be at the top of the list of my most raving reviews, but it did earn enough merit to keep it relatively close to middle ground in the "economy" category of hotels.

I've stayed here just once, but some of the liasons of our company's clients have also stayed, none of whom had anything particularly great to say about it. On the other hand, they didn't have anything much too critical to offer, either.

The best things I liked about this hotel would have to start with the free wifi throughout the premises, along with a business center that has computers and printers (just in case you're traveling extra light).

The free breakfast almost goes without saying, but since this is supposed to be a review I really should say it. The breakfast included eggs, waffles, buscuits n gravy, cereal, yogurt, fruit, etc. I also liked the pool area/fitness center.

After those three positives, however, things start progressing south....ever so slightly. Although it is within just a few minutes drive of the airport this hotel is further out than most of the others and there's not a lot of variety within walking distance. There is a SteaknShake and Church's Chicken shack across the street, but that's the extent of it. The hotel does have a restaurant and lounge inside, as well as a mini-convenience store in the lobby. Maintenance of the building, carpets, and furnishings gets a failing grade, although they are updating all of their TVs to LCDs this summer, so that's something!

If you walk in and buy a room, expect to pay 55 to 65USD per night for a standard room. On Priceline you can bid on a 3-star near the airport for as low as 25USD (I actually got it that cheap). Don't bid anything over 40, though, because Priceline charges more than 15USD in fees. When you add that on to the bid, you might just as well do a walk-in because you're not saving any money.
