Comfort Hotel Holberg Bergen Reviews
Good Base Apr 29, 2010
Marked it down on value, but in Norway everything is so much more expensive, you're not going to get the same for your £ or your $.
Easy to find, being one street up, on the opposite side of the harbour from the Bryggen, when we got off the bus from the airport at the Fishmarket.Just before the church, on one of the main shopping streets,Strandgaten.
We'd booked two rooms, and they gave us two beside each other. However the rooms were pretty small, and with the extra bed in the room for my son there was very little floor space left.
Bathroom was offset from the room, and was adequate rather than anything special. No tea or coffee making stuff in the room, but at the bottom of the lift, between the bar and reception there was a machine that you could help yourself available 24 hours.
Beds were comfortable enough, but basically just a place to rest your head for the night.
Restaurant was popular at night, with many groups, but mostly folk on business by the looks of it. Bar reflected alcohol prices in Norway and it was nearly £10($15) for 0.5l of beer :O.
Breakfast was available from about 6-30 - 10 and surprisingly I made it down for it. Probably because by then had got a feel for how expensive everything was, and it was included in the room price, might as well go down and fill your boots.
Had a great range of hot, cold, cereals, juices, and the five of us made the most of it. My mum even got my boy to make himself a sandwich for Ron, later on :D.
No probs leaving the cases to collect later when we were ready to go, and we got to go out and enjoy a day in Bergen.
Pricey, but nearly everything else is, so it is only comparitive. You're not going to do Norway if you're on a tight budget :D
