Comedor Rosita Guatemala City Reviews
Comedor Rosita Dec 18, 2011
In the end of the pedestrian 6th avenue, there is Main Square.
On the one side of the square there is a main cathedral.
Behind the Main Cathedral there is dug in space that looks like parking lot, but it is not.
Above described is the location of Mercado Central in Guatemala City, basement building on few levels full of interesting people and goods for sale. On the second level, most of the space is taken by comedores, or eateries, where usually older ladies prepare local specialties for incredibly low price. I was suggested to visit Dona Mela’s place, but that lady does not have any seating, therefore our heavy, tired feet took us to another place in the food row. We ended up in Comedor Rosita, one of the largest in this Mercado, full of good looking food, happy people and even happier girls that serve customers with honest smile on their faces.
To make story shorter, we tried most of the meets, stuffed peppers, soups… you name it, and every single item was great. Comedor is run by mama and her daughters (one of which speaks fluent English) and her crew is well trained and happy. Natural juices and lemonade that they make are super tasty and prepared perfectly. Price of whole meal is anywhere between 30 and 60Q per person (7.5Q=1$).
