2008 Columbus Auto Show Mar 16, 2008
Looking for a new ride?! My husband and I are thinking about a new vehicle, but neither of us knows what to buy. For one week in March, the Columbus Auto Show is the place to shop without being pressured by salesmen.
The show is located in the Greater Columbus Convention Center on North High Street near downtown. The show began on Sat., Mar. 8 and continues until Sun., Mar. 16. Most show hours are 3-9 weekdays and 10 am to 10 pm on weekends. Admission is $8 adults and children 12 and under are free. Sponsors have this yearly show about the same time each March. Under one roof, you can shop the offerings of each major car maker without the pressure of salesmen. Don't get me wrong, there are representatives from local dealerships, but they are supposed to just answer your questions regarding different models on display. Each auto maker offers literature and some gimmick to get you into their show space. Most have models (they prefer to be called product specialists) relating the features of shiny new cars rotating on circular displays. Some have hourly door prizes, and others have interactive displays to draw your attention. This is a great place to actually shop for a new car. Everything is under one roof where you can "try out" different makes and models. It is a good place to comparison shop without having to drive among dealerships. One of our biggest considerations in purchasing a new car is mileage. Not only can your compare mileage within a particular company, you can put together a wish list of several makers. And if you aren't in the market for a new car, you can always attend and find that dream car! Most companies allow you to sit and dream about that wonderful cross county road trip in a way too cool ride! Take your camera! It may be the only time you are behind the wheel of a Chevy Corvette or Porsche Boxer! For a fun few minutes, let yourself live the dream! Whether you are in the market or just shopping or just dreaming, the Columbus Auto Show is a great place to spend a couple hours. |
