Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area Portland Reviews
Amazing waterfalls And its all FREE Jun 15, 2002
During our vacation in 2002 we had the pleasure to check a small portion of this 80 mile long gorge. According to Wikipedia there are over 77 waterfalls along the Oregon side alone. Well, we only got to see four. There were a couple of others that required a hike, but due to a condition I had at the time we were unable to see. The four that we saw, included Horsetail Falls, Multnomah Falls, Wahkeena Falls, and Latourell Falls. Multnomah is measured at 620 feet high, and may or may not be the second tallest falls in the United States that flows year round. Wikipedia claims it isn't, while every other source I read said it is. This is one of those very unusual things you can do today. What's so unusual, you ask? It's FREE. Well you do have to get there. But there is no charge to drive the road, park the car, walk up the paths, or take the pictures. There is a gift shop at the Multnomah Falls area where you can buy souvenirs, and like everyone else, I bought something. If you are ever in the area, this is a MUST SEE!
