Colret House Coldred Reviews
Multiple stays at Colret House May 28, 2007
Just outside of Dover, lies the sleepy hamlet of Coldred. It is ideally located in Kent and is a great launching spot to explore more of the area.
One of the few houses in Coldred is "Colret House". It is privately owned by a lovely couple and they operate a very small B&B with two rooms available.
The two guest rooms are in a seperate building from the house and are nicely decorated. While they are not large, there is more than adequate space and everything is done to a good standard.
There are thoughtful touches as magazines, books, local information, a cookie jar, coffee, tea, aromatherapy room spray, etc. It has hard wood floors and a comfy bed. The room has a very cozy, homey feel to it. The only negative was the lack of water pressure in the shower.
The location is great after a long day of travel. It is peaceful and quiet and you don't hear anything but the occassional sheep bleeting. You park in the driveway off of the road and it is a very safe location.
While staying there, there is also a patio area with tables and chairs in front of the cottage. Also, you can enjoy their impressive garden which is quite extensive. We dined out in the garden, explored their gardens, and read in the gardens. It was a nice way to relax after such a long travel time.
Since it is a B&B, breakfast is included. Mr. White (one of the owners) is a wonderful cook and takes great pleasure in it. The choices to eat are quite extensive and the location is in their lovely conservatory. You can also use the conservatory on rainy days to play board games.
The owners could not have been nicer, friendlier, or more helpful. They even went so far as to loan us their road atlas and give us hints on where to find things, and things to see.
Our stay was so nice at Colret House, that we returned the following year. While it may be small, you will come back again and again.
