Colorado MTS Bar & Grill Helsinki Reviews
Colorado Bar & Grill Apr 15, 2011
This restaurant (Bar & Grill) is in a very convenient location, in the same building as the Scandic Hotel Simonkenttä. The restaurant kitchen closes at 23.00 everyday except for Mondays and Tuesdays at 22.00
Food in Helsinki Restaurants is generally expensive. More than half the restaurants are actually foreign themed (Italian, Greek, Thai,Chinese,Indian etc) It's hard to define what Finnish food really is or if it's worth hunting down the street corners for.
This restaurant has a very interesting interior and is mostly crowded and if one hasn't made a reservation in advance, you can stand in waiting which is what most people do. The food here is expensive, one course on average costs 25 euros. Without the starter or the desert or drinks. Be ready to spend an average of 50-60 euros there.
The food is excellent and the servings too much, but you could always ask for a doggy bag (have the food wrapped to take away with you). I would however ask anyone to be very cautious with a specific burger on the menu conveniently titled "burger from hell" as I fell ill instantly after eating, I and a friend had a really bad reaction from the peppers.
The menu does not indicate how "hot" a specific food is, that is , a meal that includes hot peppers which I think is quite dangerous. One also ends up spending more than they planned because you could wait for more than 40 minutes for your food which means ordering more drinks as you wait. The best thing would be to order all courses at once from your table and then start to drink something. I highly recommend the ribs :-)
You will find that after eating your meal (and drinking) you will find the whole affair worthwhile :-) For the location, taste & preparation of the food and friendly staff it's worth every penny.
